HT-Tjecken: (english version)

I just wanted to say a few words around the Italian election and what’s been discussed afterwards. There are some things which need to be straighten out, especially the question “who’s to blame?”

First of all, let me just tell you that this is the first time we have a case like this. Cases like this test our rules and policies, and it’s not always easy to handle these cases as they’re often on the borderline. This is something which has to be remembered while talking about this case - this was a totally new situation for everyone (HT included).

When draghetto asks the GMs if it was ok to use his CHPP application they didn’t see any problems. The use of logos, press announcements, external sites and similar is already used and this looked kind of similar in their point of view, so they said it’s ok in their eyes thinking draghetto had to get ok from CHPP guys in order to update his program. This never happened however, which is understandable when you put yourself into their positions.

Yesterday HT-Trapper (responsible for CHPP staff) contacted me about this case and wanted my opinion about it. I couldn’t really see anything wrong with this at all as I didn’t think this was included in the rules, but I thought that we should include this in rules in some way. After some discussion and reading we did see that this in fact was covered by the rules, this because the CHPP rules also points at the normal rules about “Your behaviour” where it says it’s prohibited to send “unsolicited messages like advertisements”. After that, Trapper informed the NTAs and also wrote a post about it on global.

So, who’s to blame then for making this happen? The GMs for telling draghetto that they didn’t see anything wrong with it? Nope, I don’t blame them and I think you’re out on very thin ice if you do. From their horizon it was ok (remember, even I didn’t see anything wrong with this when I first heard about it), maybe they should have pointed out for draghetto that he should have contacted the CHPP staff too – but that’s the only sort of mistake I can find.

So, should we blame draghetto then? Nope, I don’t think so either. He got an idea and asked if it was ok, and in his eyes he got it. Sure, he should have contacted the CHPP staff too, but I can understand why he didn’t think it was needed as he had asked the GMs.

So, who is to blame then? Well, first of all I wonder if there’s really a need to blame someone in cases like this. Sure, one can always find things which could have been done to avoid cases like this when you look at it now, but at that very moment it’s not that easy to spot them.
In my eyes noone is to blame, but if someone is to blame I guess we (HT) are as we haven’t been clear enough how to deal our different staff should treat borderline questions/cases like this where it’s also a borderline between who should make the decision.

I know the GMs regret that they took for granted that CHPP staff also should be contacted and I know draghetto regret this step completely. But is this really what they deserve? The GMs have done a truly fantastic job lately with all the extra work (it’s been a lot!) at the start of this season because of the league reform and other stuff. And then they find themselves blamed by this little incident, caused by something which is a tiny little mistake at the most. Sure, we don’t like mistakes or when thinks go this far, but this is certainly not what they deserve after these last weeks hard work.

Let me just underline that I understand why you bring this subject up for discussion, that’s all good. It is a borderline case and we should decide which side of the border cases like this belong. But there’s really no need to find someone to blame all the time. In fact, I think that’s kind of sad – especially if you know how much time and efforts they’ve put into the GM job for the Italian users and community lately.

HT-Tjecken: (versione tradotta)

Dovremmo allora biasimare draghetto?

"The main thing to clarify, and now I speak as ex-under 20 coach and who had to pass all informations to draghetto, is if you consider THIS election regular and if draghetto will remain our new national coach."

HT-Tjecken ha risposto:
"It would not be right to call this election regular, if so we hadn't had this conversation right now. However, the NTAs (which are the ones who deal with national team issues and elections issues normally) have decided that the winner stays and I agree in their decision."

macao:

macao:
if he decided to make a step back in this borderline case, would you (the NTAs I mean) accept it?

HT-Tjecken:
In my opinion, no

macao:

HT-Tjecken:
Secondo me no

theguardian:
This is a non-sense Tjecken, sorry but we cannot accept this...
If You admit the elections are not regular, the elections MUST be cancelled!

HT-Tjecken:
You misunderstand me.
I'm not saying this election wasn't right, I'm just saying that this election is something extra ordinary. This has not been an ordinary election in that sense, but I definately don't think this election wasn't right. As I said earlier on, I agree with the NTAs' decision.

Versine tradotta.
theguardian:

mfabiom:
sorry, but i don't understand your policies about spam!!!
not in conference, not in h-mail, not in GB,but every one can make it by chhp program?.....

HT-Tjecken:
Well, first you got to make a CHPP program of your own then. ;)

Seriously, this case is the case where our rules has been tested for CHPP programs. This will not be allowed in the future.
But because of the circumstances explained in my first post, I think draghetto didn't do anything wrong, he asked if it was ok and in his opinion he got an ok which I can perfectly understand. Later on we (HT/CHPP) found out that this wasn't ok, but this was found out _after_ the election.

mfabiom:
